My Happy Place

In this crazy world, these two keep me going...

You may have heard me mention my incredible wife Gemma before and not so little St Bernard Hogan and I have to honest, they are the most important things to me in my life!

If you have been lucky enough to meet either of them, you will know just how fabulous and special they really are.

I don't want to sound all sloppy or on the other hand like an absolute nut job but is it possible to love somebody too much?

Granted i'm not at the point where I lie in bed watching them sleep but I don't think there's anything I wouldn't do for either of them... Apart from jump out of a plane, stuff that, they can ask someone else!

I don't think it's a secret that the last few months have been a crazy time for all of us. Don't worry, I won't mention the dreaded virus here. I think with it being on just about all social media outlets, in the papers and let's be honest I don't think we can we switch on the TV without hearing someone mention it, it's nice to have somewhere to go where you can lose yourself and those virus thoughts for even just 5 minutes.

That's why I think we should have a happy place...

For me personally the day consists of a couple of major thoughts...

  • Am I going to make any money today?

  • When will I get back to performing?

  • Am I going to make any money today?

  • I've got a podcast to record!

  • Am I going to make any money today?

  • Time to write a blog

  • Am I going to make any money today

As you can see there's a pattern. I do have other things to do but you get the idea.

This is why when Gemma say's, "I'll get home and we can both go for walk with Hogan if you like?" It's something to look forward to.

It may not seem like a lot but when the last few months have consisted of doing a fat bunch of nothing, not only do I get to spend time with my favourites but we also get to do stuff together, even if it is a short walk.

On go the wellies, big coats and a pocket full of poo bags (for the dog not me!) and off we go!

We are so lucky that we have a big field almost opposite the house from us and when he's not barking at people walking past the house, you can usually find Hogan at the window staring at the field, standing proud with pure excitement in his eyes waiting for the next opportunity to get over there and start sniffing!

Hogan spends most of his time sniffing the grass where the other dogs have walked, or maybe just where they've been, if you know what I mean? Whether it's up a tree or in the long grass he spends most of his time with his nose to the ground like a trained sniffer dog taking part in a huge drugs bust!

We went over to the field just the other evening and found a load of conkers that had fallen to the ground. It was like we had turned into big kids again looking for the best conker to tie to a piece of string and smash against another. Am I the only one who remembers that game? Gem found me one that was shaped like a heart.... Well, it was if you turned the lights off and squinted but it was a romantic moment!

I know how much Hogan enjoys his walks on the field and Gem always say's how much she enjoys us all going together. That makes me happy to hear. It truly is my happy place. I know we live in the same house together but it really is the simple things in life that can put a smile on your face and right now isn't that just so important!

To be honest, just spending time with Gemma and Hogan is truly my happy place!

Find your happy place and smile!
